Custom Sizing Clothing Manufacturer | Fashion Flair

Custom Sizing Clothing Manufacturer for Private Label Brands

Poor fit is one of the most common reasons customers send clothes back, and it is also one of the easiest problems to prevent before a single garment is cut. Fashion Flair is a custom sizing clothing manufacturer based in Sialkot, Pakistan. We build size charts, patterns and size ranges around your customers, then manufacture the full run to those measurements, with one contact and one timeline.

This guide explains what custom sizing includes, how grading works, how we check fit, and what to send us for a quote.

What Does Custom Sizing Mean?

A custom sizing clothing manufacturer makes your garments to your measurements, not to a factory’s standard chart. Instead of picking “Medium” from a stock size table, you decide how wide, long and loose a Medium should be for your customers. We then turn that into a pattern, grade it across every size, and check that each finished garment matches.

It matters because a “Medium” is not a fixed size. A streetwear brand’s Medium, a gym brand’s Medium and a workwear brand’s Medium can be several centimetres apart, and customers notice.

What We Can Customise

A good custom sizing clothing manufacturer stays flexible. Here is what we can adjust for your line:

  • Size chart. Your own measurements for every size and every point of measure.
  • Size range. Which sizes you offer, from small to extended sizes, as long as the pattern and fabric allow.
  • Fit style. Slim, regular, relaxed, oversized, boxy or cropped.
  • Pattern. Adjusted shoulders, sleeves, length, rise or hem to suit your customer.
  • Grading rules. How much each measurement grows or shrinks from size to size.
  • Regional sizing. Charts tuned to your market, such as US, UK, EU or Asian fit.
  • Size labels and packing. Your size labels sewn in, and cartons packed by size ratio. See our custom clothing labels and hang tags.

Garment Measurements vs. Body Measurements

This is the most common source of confusion, so we settle it at the start.

Garment measurementsBody measurements

Includes ease?Yes. Ease is already built inNo. Ease must be added
Best forProduction specs and quality checksUnderstanding who the size fits

We work from garment measurements, because that is what the factory can measure and check. If you only have body measurements, we help you add the right ease for the fabric and fit style.

Points of Measure We Specify

Each size chart lists the measurements that define a garment. The exact list depends on the garment.

GarmentTypical points of measure
Hoodies and sweatshirtsChest width, shoulder width, sleeve length, body length, hem width, cuff and hood size
T-shirtsChest width, shoulder width, sleeve length, body length, neck width
JacketsChest width, shoulder width, sleeve length, body length, hem width, pocket position
Joggers and shortsWaist, hip, rise, inseam, thigh, leg opening
Leggings and activewearWaist, hip, rise, inseam, thigh, with stretch recovery noted

Fit Styles: Defining How a Size Should Feel

  • Slim. Close to the body, with little ease.
  • Regular. Standard ease for everyday wear.
  • Relaxed. Extra room through the chest and body.
  • Oversized. Wider body, dropped shoulders and often longer sleeves.
  • Boxy and cropped. Wider and shorter in the body.

Oversized garments are the most misunderstood. A customer who wears a Medium usually buys the same Medium, so your size chart and your size labels need to make sense together. We help you plan that.

Size Grading Explained

Grading is how a pattern is scaled into a full size range. You approve a base size, usually a Medium, and each size up or down changes by set amounts at each point of measure, called grade rules. Good grading keeps proportions right, so an XXL is not simply a stretched Medium, and an XS is not a squashed one.

Grading is also where sizes go wrong. A pattern that fits well at base size can look strange at the ends of the range if the rules are poor. That is why we check sample sizes at both ends, not only the middle.

Regional Sizing: One Garment, Different Expectations

Customers in different markets expect different fits. As a general guide, many US customers expect a roomier cut, while many Asian markets expect a smaller, shorter fit for the same size label. European sizing often uses its own scales. These are broad patterns and brands differ, so tell us where you sell, and our custom sizing clothing manufacturer team will tune the chart and recommend labelling to match.

Design Tips From a Custom Sizing Clothing Manufacturer

  • Send a reference garment. A garment that fits the way you want is the fastest and clearest brief. We can measure it and match it.
  • State what your numbers mean. Tell us if your measurements are body or garment, and flat or around.
  • Agree tolerances. Every garment varies slightly. We agree an acceptable range at each point of measure before production.
  • Plan for shrinkage. Cotton and washed fabrics shrink, so we cut slightly larger and check measurements after washing.
  • Think about stretch. Stretch fabrics fit differently from woven ones, even at the same measurements.
  • Think ahead on sizes. Adding extended sizes later is possible, but easier if the pattern is planned for them from the start.

How Our Custom Sizing Process Works

  1. Send your brief. Garment type, target customer, market, size range and a reference garment or tech pack.
  2. Spec check and size chart. We build your size chart and points of measure, and send a free mockup.
  3. Pattern and fit sample. We make a fit sample in your base size, so you can try it, measure it and give feedback.
  4. Adjustments. We update the pattern based on your comments, until the fit is right.
  5. Grading and size set samples. We grade the pattern across your size range and make samples of the key sizes for approval.
  6. Bulk production. Production starts only after your sign-off.
  7. Quality control. See below.
  8. Packing and shipping. Garments are packed by size ratio, with size labels checked, and shipped worldwide.

For the full picture of an order, read our manufacturing process and sample policy.

Our Quality Control

Quality control is what protects your fit when you work with a custom sizing clothing manufacturer. Every order goes through our three-level QC system. For custom sizing, the checks include:

  • Measurements against your size chart, taken on sample garments from the run, within the agreed tolerance
  • Consistency across sizes, so proportions hold from the smallest to the largest
  • Measurements after washing, to catch shrinkage and twisting
  • Size labels, checked against the garment’s actual size
  • Packing by size ratio, so each carton matches your order
  • Final inspection for stitching, stains and fabric flaws before packing

Rejected pieces are removed, not shipped.

Planning Your Size Ratio

You do not need to order every size in equal numbers. Most brands order more of the middle sizes and fewer of the largest and smallest. As a rough guide, centre your quantities on the sizes your customers buy most, then adjust after your first sales data arrives. We can help you set a starting split, because the MOQ is 30 pieces per design across all sizes combined.

What Affects Custom Sizing Cost

Every custom sizing clothing manufacturer prices a little differently. We quote per project, because the price depends on a few clear factors:

  • Pattern development, including a new base pattern or changes to an existing one
  • Number of sizes and whether you need extended sizes
  • Number of fit samples and size set samples
  • Garment complexity, such as panels, pockets and hoods
  • Fabric and stretch, which affect fabric use and sampling
  • Quantity, as pattern and setup costs are spread across more pieces

For more on pricing, see our price guide. We give a written quote before any work starts, so there are no surprise charges.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is your MOQ as a custom sizing clothing manufacturer?

Our MOQ is 30 pieces per design, across all sizes combined. Smaller runs cost more per piece because pattern and sampling costs are spread over fewer garments, so we can advise on the most economical quantity for your budget.

Can you copy a garment I already have?

Yes. Send us a garment that fits the way you want, and we will measure it, build a pattern from it and make a sample for you to approve.

Can you make extended sizes such as 3XL to 5XL?

Often, yes, depending on the garment and fabric. Extended sizes need their own grade rules and extra fabric, so tell us the range you want and we will confirm it.

What is a size chart, and who provides it?

A size chart lists the measurements of each size at each point of measure. You can provide it, or we can build one from your reference garment or target customer.

What is grading?

Grading is how a base-size pattern is scaled into other sizes, using set increases or decreases at each point of measure. Good grading keeps proportions right across the range.

What tolerance do you work to?

We agree an acceptable range at each point of measure with you before production, and we check sample garments from the run against it.

How do you handle shrinkage?

We plan for shrinkage in the pattern, then measure garments after washing and compare them to your size chart.

Can you change sizes after a first order?

Yes. We keep the approved pattern, so you can adjust size ratios or fit on a reorder. Changing the fit itself needs a new sample.

Can I get a sample before bulk production?

Yes. You approve a fit sample and size set samples before bulk. See our sample policy for details on cost and timing.

Can I send my own blank garments to be re-sized or finished?

No. We are a manufacturer, so we make the garments for your order ourselves. That keeps the pattern, fit and finish consistent from the first piece to the last.

How long does production take?

It depends on the garment, the number of sampling rounds and the quantity. Share your spec or reference garment and we will give you an exact turnaround, confirmed in writing before we start.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. As a custom sizing clothing manufacturer working with brands abroad, we ship worldwide and share shipping options and estimated delivery times before production begins.

Ready to Get Your Fit Right?

Send us your reference garment or size chart, the garment you have in mind and your target quantity. We will reply with a mockup and a clear quote within 24 hours on working days. Tell us about your project and see why brands choose us as their custom sizing clothing manufacturer.
